Here’s some video of my recent lecture at UCLA. This one is about what folks call “mundane experience.”

Here’s one about my first experience teaching Zen.

And here’s one on Zen Trail Mix.

Yeah, cuz Genpo Roshi actually know how to follow the path.

When was the last time he insulted another teacher and violated his vows in public? Oh, that’s right, never.

    Try again, Brad.

Attention, all people interested in serious discussion: Please Do Not Feed The Trolls. Feel free to observe them in their native habitat of mockery and bitterness, but please don’t throw anything their way.

For more on the same topic, see this article on Flamebait. This section is particularly relevant (emphasis mine):

There are various motives or explanations for this behavior. The most popular is the desire for attention and the desire for entertainment at the expense of others. Posted flamebait can provide the posting party with a controlled trigger-and-response setting in which to engage in conflicts and indulge aggressive behavior anonymously, without facing the consequences those behaviors would certainly bring to bear in real life.

Let’s hood Brad up to the Etch-a-sketch and see if HE can stop HIS brainwaves…hmmmm…? You’re no Genpo’s “butt-buddy” either, teehee… 🙂

Mockery and bitterness seem to be more in keeping with Brad’s normal modus operandi.

It must be the tee shirt.

    You’re no Genpo Roshi.

Comparisons are odious. Who gives a fuck about this kind of petty rivalry?

Blue Wolf–yes i do have a problem with that–I find myself just *steaming* whenever I think that Brad is Brad…Back to the important stuff, the Celeb Boxing: Why not have Genpo and Brad embody each other in the ring and then kick their own asses!? ha!

Yes, thank you Jules. You are telling us, I’m sure, that we ought not respond to Brad’s crass, public, ill-considered character assasination of Genpo Roshi, a senior American Zen teacher with unquestionable credentials and experience, without even having spoken with him, or investigated what he may be talking about. You’re right, it’s a waste of time responding to trolls like that–they are not interested in dialogue (or he would have called the Roshi, yes?), they are interested in, well, slander I guess (how could you say that about Wilber, Brad?)

Wow, pretty substantive stuff here. After reading this, I’ve decided to go Soft. Core that is. Mostly in the middle. But the rest of my life is so hard. I think I need a shot at redemption. Maybe a photo opportunity. Love thy trail mix as thyself.

If he won’t publicly insult another teacher, why don’t you follow his good example? It looks like your anger has eclipsed your reasoning ability.

Everybody here is worried about the other fella, including me! Somebody help! Peace all 🙂 Better to have a contentious conversation about the dharma than not to have encountered it at all–and my heart really is warmed thinking of all of us grumpy and wrongheaded/ rightheaded folks finding our ways. Thank you Brad for your efforts–much more good than harm is coming out of the dharma these days, even Genpo Roshi’s work seems to be bringing some folks a measure of peace. If they do that for awhile, great, if other things strike their lights, well, hopefully we will all find our ways, be it hardcore or softcore. 🙂

Do you think he would take $125?

  34. Genpo
    Genpo April 9, 2007 at 8:54 am |

You’ll pay the $150, and be happy to do so, bi-otches.

Anywho, down to biz… I’ve gotst no qualms about Brandikens incessant jabberings towards me, he is, after all, only human. And that’s exactly what makes him the greatest of us “spiritual teachers,” he is living proof that you can be a ranting imbecile and still be a Buddha, the two are not separate!

    Toddles 🙂

  35. dorkzen
    dorkzen April 9, 2007 at 7:44 pm |

OMG after that statement I’ll go $175!

I heart Brandikins AND you now… but how do I get imbecillified like that–wazzup!!? 🙂

Feed me you monkeys! C’mon Jules, you chin-scratching poor-man’s Socrates, you! Feed me!

  36. genpo
    genpo April 10, 2007 at 1:27 pm |

Don’t pay more or less, dorkzen, always take the middle way, duh!

And about Brandikins, you still don’t get it, the hardcore I mean. You can be… whatever, and still be a Buddha. Take Joshua’s dog, and what could be closer to a dog than a punk rocker, does a dog have the Buddha-nature? NO, numbnuts!
